Choir Costumes fall into two categories:
-
Competition Costumes
-
Choir Show Costumes (shows or concerts on campus)
Competition Costumes
Each choir will have one or more 'costumes' that they wear during the competition season. Most of these pieces will be provided by the choir and covered by Participation Fees. Except for shoes and undergarments, these items are the property of the choir program and may be collected at the end of the school year. Care instructions will be provided. If items are lost or damaged, it the responsibility of the student to replace or pay for the item.
Packing lists will be provided so that the students are prepared with all the costume pieces they need for each competiton. Garment bags will be issued at the start and returned at the end.
For most competitions students will need to bring their garment bags with costumes to school the day prior to the actual competition. Giving us time to double check contents and get them loaded on the truck
Show Costumes
With each program that the choirs perform there are different costume needs. In many cases the costumes will be provided, but in some each participant will be required to either create a look for the number, or in some cases they will need to get some additional items beyond those provided.
Below you will find a number of places that parents in the past have gone to purchase items for the costumes. In no way are we recommending these places, but in general we have found that these are good starting points for purchasing things that you will need through the year.

Costume care is very important as some of the costumes will be worn many times and in any number of performances. Please make sure that you follow the costume care instructions provided with each costume, and just because a costume has been used for "one show" doesn't mean that we may not come back and re-use it in some way in another, so please, don't throw them out!
Additionally, at the bottom of this page are PDF files that provide costume lists as well as costume care instructions.
IMPORTANT
This can not be stressed enough as every year we have a problem with this. Please make sure that you label EVERY piece of costume clothing with your choir students name. Off stage changing is hectic and fast and without properly labeling your items they will not come home with your student. This includes shoes that they bring to class. This is the voice of experience talking.... |
